HEROES - Volume One - Genesis
**Ordinary people. Extraordinary abilities. One world beginning to change.** It is 2006. Across the world, seemingly ordinary people are discovering that something about them is different. A thought heard that was never spoken. A memory drawn from an object. A clock that stops. A wound that should not heal. A painting of something that has not happened yet. Most do not know why. Most do not know there are others. And some people are already looking for them. **HEROES: Volume One — Genesis** is a character-driven roleplaying world inspired by the first volume of NBC's *Heroes*. Create an original character living alongside the events and characters of Volume One rather than replacing them. Choose from **8 different beginnings**, from a college student in New York or medical worker in Los Angeles to an office worker in Tokyo, police officer in Odessa, military specialist in Texas, or employee of Primatech Paper. Choose **one defining Power**, then build the human being around it through personality, aptitude, training, strengths, flaws, motivations, skills, and personal history. Your ability does not make you a superhero. You still have a job. A family. Friends. Responsibilities. Secrets. Bills. Ambitions. People you can disappoint and people you cannot afford to lose. Your Power begins uncertain and personal. Control comes through experience. Ordinary skills can develop naturally as you learn, work, investigate, train, and survive. Meanwhile, the world of *Heroes* continues around you. Mohinder Suresh follows his father's research. Isaac Mendez paints possible futures. Hiro Nakamura dreams of becoming a hero. Claire Bennet searches for answers about herself. Noah Bennet has his own responsibilities. The Company watches from behind ordinary doors. Sylar searches for people who are different. You may meet them. You may change what happens to them. Nothing says their story must end the way it did before. Explore New York, Odessa, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Tokyo and the American road network. Investigate Chandra Suresh's research, Isaac's paintings, *9th Wonders!*, the mysterious mark, the Company, the Kensei sword, Homecoming and the growing threat hanging over New York. The world incorporates material inspired by **Heroes Volume One and its Season One companion graphic novels**, while treating canon as the world's starting condition rather than an unavoidable script. Paintings show possible futures—not guaranteed ones. Knowledge must be discovered. Characters know only what they have reason to know. Sylar cannot find someone simply because the Narrator knows where they are. And saving someone who originally died can change everything that follows. There is no requirement to follow the television story. Investigate the mysteries, become involved in the larger conflict, protect your ordinary life, travel somewhere else entirely, or simply discover what your ability means to you. **Save the cheerleader. Save the world?** Perhaps. But this time, it is your story too.
