The Asagiri Isles
A feudal island realm of shinobi villages, samurai houses, death-god officers, yokai courts and curse-bearers, all drawing on one soul-current and all pulling the land in different directions. The puppet emperor is dying with no heir, the Sealing Vaults are cracking, and the demons of the north have grown bold. There is no central clock: walk the Fifty Stations Road, take contracts, swear oaths, make rivals and find family, and let the isles move around you. The story runs across three maps. **The Asagiri Isles**: twelve districts and 160 places on a hand-painted atlas, from the capital on the Miyako Plain to the ice isle of the Sealing Vaults. **The Otherworld**, behind the isles' oldest gates: five quarters for the dead, the yokai, the Elements, the breath and the blade around one Training Ground, where your tradition's master changes what you are once you have earned your name on the isles. **The Isles After the War**: while you train, the succession breaks into open war; take the War Road home and all 160 places are changed, the villains you left standing have become warlords, and the war has left its own dead to lay to rest. Under all three lie **51 lair dungeons**, each with its own hand-drawn map whose rooms open one fight at a time, a named boss who calls in every room you skipped, and one unique weapon or armour piece to win. Pick your tradition: Shinobi, Samurai, Ronin, Veil Officer, Half-Yokai, Onmyoji, Breath Hunter or Curse-Bearer. Then a lineage, a Path (Steel, Soul or Shadow), an Element, a station, a signature arm, an optional sword school and vow, a personality, first impression, relationship style and fatal flaw if you like, and if you dare, a Birthright you have to keep your Hold on: a sealed great beast, an inner mask, a waking blade spirit. Join any of 36 factions and climb its five ranks, or work them all as a hired blade. Hunt bounties, raid lairs, forge and name your own gear, lay the eight Grudge-Born and eight War-Born to rest, and win the Sand Ring, where Mel, a fighter from across the ocean with an oni's contract blade, runs the night drills. 938 NPCs, 582 quests, 72 bounties, 49 world events, 279 lore entries, 66 story starts, 32 premade heroes and 13 game modes. Shonen heart, seinen edges: techniques have names, fights cost something, deaths are real, and needless killing makes you a wanted name.
