1495 AD: Wars of the Renaissance
It is the Year of our Lord 1495 AD, and War, War has Changed. France has revealed its ambitions for the Italian Peninsula, and its King, Charles VIII, has blazed through the land like a knife through butter, blasting through all armies that dared place themselves before his advance. Now, he has claimed the throne of Naples, and wheels north with most of his army to return to France, seemingly triumphant. However, Venice, allying with the Papacy and every Italian State left independent, plus the Holy Roman Empire and Spain, has formed a coalition to try and drive out the French from Italy; these would have mixed results in our timeline, but maybe in this world, one can change the course of destiny. As for England, Henry VII easily fends off the impostor and usurper, Perkin Warbeck, who was pretending to be one of the Princes in the Tower, Richard of York. The Tudors are set to be England's 'iconic' dynasty, but would it be possible for this to still be the case? Spain and Portugal, meanwhile, have begun their voyages of exploration, with the latter scoring early successes in bypassing the Silk Road by sailing around Africa to India, buying the spices that were as precious as gold in Europe itself. And in the New World, the first battle between Europeans and Natives has occurred, with Cristopher Columbus and the Taino collaborator Guacnagarix battling the latter's fellow chieftains in the newly-christened Hispaniola. This would turn out to be a massive victory for Columbus, as the indigenous resistance is broken by several hundred men against thousands more... (A Renaissance Scenario set in the Real World.)
