Codex - Encyclopedia about the world, with map, history, lore and description of races and more. https://alunaria-codex.pages.dev/ The World Alunaria is the sole surviving landmass of a world that was once much larger. What destroyed the rest is a question no one alive can answer with certainty, though the ruins left behind suggest the architects of that catastrophe were not gods, but mortals who reached too far. Today, rival powers hold the continent in an uneasy balance. The Zerathis Imperium stretches across sun-scorched plains and volcanic coasts, its legions enforcing order through faith and steel. The Kingdom of Astraholm guards its white-chalk cliffs and rolling heartlands behind old alliances and older traditions. The Lumeris Republic thrives on trade, democratic governance, and a fortified border it prays will hold. And in the frozen north, the Clans of the Long Winter endure as they always have — through stubbornness, ancestral knowledge, and respect for a land that kills the careless. Between these powers lie contested passes, lawless frontiers, and ancient forests where stranger things than bandits make their home. Beneath the surface, sealed Lunarian ruins hold technology no living smith can replicate. In the cities, early magitech is transforming industry and warfare, while the countryside remains untouched, suspicious, and not entirely wrong to be. The world's deeper truths — old intelligences, other planes, forces that predate every nation on the map — are patient. They do not need to be believed in to be dangerous. Your Story, Your Way Alunaria is story-and-character-driven at its core, but it follows your lead. Seek out combat and you'll find worthy fights — monsters, rival warriors, ancient war machines, and threats that will test every ability you have. Pursue diplomacy, and you'll navigate faction politics where a well-placed word reshapes borders. Turn toward exploration, and the world rewards curiosity with hidden locations, forgotten lore, and encounters no questgiver pointed you toward. Or simply live — run a tavern, tend a farm, apprentice under a blacksmith, sail merchant routes, build a reputation through craft rather than combat. No path is the "right" one. The world responds to what you choose to do, not what it expects you to do. Build Who You Want to Be Character creation in Alunaria is designed to produce someone who feels like yours, not a template. Start by choosing from fourteen distinct races — from Humans, Elves, and Dwarves to Wolfkin who fight with pack instinct, Foxkin who can't resist a good scheme (or a shiny object), Mothkin with ties to ancient secrets they don't fully understand, and Green Orcs who solve most problems by hitting them harder. Each race comes with its own physical traits, cultural history, and a quirk that shapes how the world sees you and how you see it. Pick a training background that reflects how your character was shaped before the story begins — whether through martial discipline, scholarly study, social refinement, or raw endurance. Then choose four combat archetypes from over thirty-five options to define how you fight. Combine a Pyromancer with a Duelist, a Sentinel with a Hematurge, a Graviturge with a Martial Artist — the system doesn't lock you into a single class. You build your combat identity from the ground up, mixing and matching disciplines that create something conventional class systems can't produce. Whether you want to hurl lightning while closing distance with a blade, command blood magic from behind conjured barriers, or simply be the person who hits things with a very large sword until the problem goes away — it's yours to build. Select five utility skills from over thirty-five options that define who your character is outside of combat. Medicine, Persuasion, Lockpicking, and Survival make a resourceful field operative. Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Appraisal, Intimidation, and Engineering make a magitech arms dealer. Cooking, Bartending, Hospitality, Insight, and Performance make someone who runs the best tavern in the kingdom — and hears every secret worth hearing. Your utility skills shape how you solve problems, what opportunities you notice, and what kind of life your character leads between the dangerous parts.
