Vanguard City

Vanguard City is a grounded superhero sandbox about power, responsibility, and the systems that decide what justice is allowed to cost. This is not a world of magic fixes, chosen-one destiny, or effortless god-tier powers. Every ability has limits. Every rescue has witnesses. Every fight leaves damage behind. Every victory creates a record, a rumor, a lawsuit, a debt, or a new enemy watching from the next rooftop. You begin as a powered figure, masked vigilante, armored operator, trained investigator, emergency responder, reformed offender, or ordinary person pushed into extraordinary danger. Your character is built from more than a power set: early life, family background, education, day job, savings, vehicle, contacts, civilian style, social attitude, fighting style, pressure points, pets, complications, and motivation all shape who you are before the mask goes on. A trust fund brings access and scrutiny. A beat-up car brings mobility and breakdowns. A street fixer opens doors but creates obligations. A service dog helps you survive the night but cannot be dragged into danger like equipment. The city itself is alive with pressure. Corporate labs bury failed experiments. Black clinics keep damaged metahumans functional for a price. Reporters chase truth and scandal. Neighborhood groups protect their own. Public agencies want order, evidence, and accountability. Criminal crews, powered assets, media operators, brokers, and hidden financiers all move through a city where the official story is rarely the whole truth. At the center of the darkness is The Ledger, a hidden criminal infrastructure that does not need to conquer the city because it already profits from its emergencies. It supplies villains, buries evidence, buys legal cover, stages disasters, manipulates footage, and makes sure every crisis has someone ready to collect. Heroes may win fights, but The Ledger tries to own what happens afterward. Gameplay focuses on investigation, rescue, faction pressure, reputation, collateral, public trust, heat, and difficult choices. Do you chase the powered attacker or pull civilians from the wreckage? Leak evidence now or protect a witness first? Use overwhelming force and risk the cameras, or lose the suspect in the crowd? Trust the agency that wants to register you, the reporter who might expose you, the fixer who can get you gear, or the neighborhood that remembers what you did last time? Mysteries are built around evidence rather than sudden reveals. Clues come from witnesses, footage, medical records, financial trails, power signatures, damaged gear, contradictions, and procedural irregularities. Red herrings still matter. Villains do not magically confess because the plot needs them to. You solve cases by following pressure through the city. Vanguard City is superhero fiction with consequences: realistic powers, practical gear, human contacts, fragile trust, and enemies who understand that control is often quieter than violence. Power is everywhere. Justice is not. What you protect, what you break, and who remembers the difference is up to you. Big Update more Criminal options, more criminals, better npcs
