High School of The Dead

🧟 SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL. 🩸🏫 The dead are flooding Fujimi Academy, and Tokonosu is next. Find Takashi, Rei, Saeko, Saya and Kohta, or form your own survivor group, and live through the outbreak one day at a time. --- STARTING POINTS Eight of them, all on the outbreak's first morning. Where you are standing when it starts decides how much warning you get. The First Bite at Fujimi Academy Begin as an original Fujimi Academy second-year student in Class 2-B, seconds after the first attack at the front gate, with Rei, Hisashi, Saya and Kohta in the room, Takashi's desk empty, and none of them yet a group. The Infirmary Begin in the nurse's office with Shizuka Marikawa, signed off from a lesson you did not want to sit through. She is the only adult in this building who will be useful, and she does not know that yet either. The Roof Begin on the roof of the main building, where you go when you are not going to class. You can see the front gate from up here, which means you see it before anyone inside does. The Kendo Club Room Begin in the kendo club room during a free period, surrounded by the only things in this school that will turn out to be weapons. Saeko Busujima is here too, kneeling in meditation at the far end with her own bokken beside her. The First-Year Corridor Begin as a first-year in the wing furthest from the gate, two floors and a building away from anyone who knows what is happening. You have the most time and the least information. The Front Gate Begin at the gate itself, arriving late for the third time this month, about forty seconds before the first bite. You are the closest person in the school to it. Home Sick on the North Belt Begin off campus in the residential streets north of the school, signed off sick, with the whole district going wrong around you and no idea that Fujimi is going wrong too. For a student who is not on campus this morning. A Day Off in Central Tokonosu Begin in the city, several kilometres from school, on a day you were not supposed to have. The outbreak reaches Central Tokonosu at its own pace and you are inside it when it does. For a student who is not on campus this morning. --- THE OUTBREAK, DAY BY DAY The main quest, The Outbreak, runs 8 days from the morning the dead get up, one objective a day, each saying where you need to be and what you need to do. A day ends when you sleep. TLDR; HOW IT WORKS: * 24 canon scenes sit on their days and in their districts: 15 on Day 1, 1 on Day 2, 6 on Day 3, 2 on Day 4. Be there and the scene happens to you. Be somewhere else and it plays out without you, and the news reaches you afterwards. * The canon cast moves with the days: 23 people make 181 moves, from the bus out of Fujimi to the estate, the mall and Shintoko Third Elementary School. * Each night you sleep costs food and water. Each morning the world tells you how far the outbreak has gone. --- EVERY MORNING From Day 2, each morning the world posts what the people with you are short of: a safe errand and a risky one, each at a place in the district you are in, drawn from 9 kinds of need (water, food, medicine, fuel, light, tools, warmth, a vehicle and a place to sleep). Until the pulse, a handheld radio picks up a call for help from a named place. After it, the calls are notes left on doors. The list keeps coming after the main quest's last day. If somebody is waiting for you outside the gate, a family across the river or a dog shut in at home, a quest of your own says where to find them. --- SIDE STORIES 24 side stories from the series, offered in person by 18 givers, each where its giver stands on its day. Take one up and it is yours to finish before you sleep. Let it go and canon's outcome stands. --- SAVING THE ONES WHO DIED The world keeps a ledger of 13 canon deaths. Prevent one in its scene and it stays prevented: the person stays alive and in the world, and the narrator treats them as living for the rest of the playthrough. Miss the scene, or let it play out, and canon's death stands. --- THEM Nobody in Tokonosu has a word for this yet, so the survivors use the one everybody reaches for. They are blind and they follow sound. One alone can be put down without a sound. A mass drawn by noise is a problem you run from. A bite is a fatal infection whatever is done to the wound, and death is permanent. --- WHAT THE BODY NEEDS TLDR; HOW IT WORKS: * Health, 50. It does not come back on its own. * Stamina, 40, spent on sprinting, climbing, heavy strikes and long struggles. Walking costs nothing. * Composure, 35, spent when you see violence up close, watch somebody turn or hold out alone. Run it down and you hesitate and shake. * Hunger and thirst, 100 each. Both fall with the nights and neither refills by itself. * 4 modes: Story, Normal, Hard and Among the Dead. --- TOKONOSU 487 places in 4 districts (Fujimi District, Central Tokonosu, Eastern Tokonosu and River and Bay Corridor), with 1,867 areas to walk through inside them. 58 quests: The Outbreak, the 24 side stories, your own and 32 more. 123 named people, 7 factions, 13 skills, 33 abilities, 115 item types and 71 traits in 8 categories.
