Improvement
Patch 2.45.3
The complete notes for this update.
New features
- A single Level Up card now summarizes your new level, resource increases, ability and attribute points, trait choices, and earned titles. View Level Up opens your available choices in the character panel.
- You can now ask the Assistant or in-game Studio to revive dead, dying, or incapacitated NPCs. Revival restores at least 35% of maximum health and marks them as recovering.
- Added trigger conditions for whether an NPC is in combat (`npc-in-combat`, true or false) and its type (`npc-type`, an NPC type key), such as checking whether a dragon has entered combat.
- You can now upload, preview, replace, and remove music directly in Studio, including background music for narration. Existing music URLs remain editable in JSON.
- Studio now reveals newly created records in a browsable showcase with their images, completion status, and changes from that turn. You can open a record or replay the reveal from chat.
- Areas now have an editable Name field in Studio and stay open after renaming.
- In Studio, you can now reorder Trait Categories, Game Modes, and Story Starts with a mouse, touch, or keyboard. Player setup follows your chosen order.
- You can now rate Studio agent replies as Helpful or Unhelpful, with optional reasons and a comment.
- Players joining a public game already in progress now see an orientation header and a short recap of the story so far, plus a ‘Take my first turn’ button.
- You can now choose from a “My images” folder when picking a World cover, which lets you reuse images you've already saved or generated. You can favorite, download, and view details for each image.
- New badges have been added to be used on your profile, including different-tiered badges for Player Actions, Creator Actions, and Subscription Length. You can show up to two badges on your profile at a time, not including the Subscription badge.
- After playing a World, you can now see a quick option to rate it. Open More → Rate this World to Like or Dislike it. Likes offer an optional public comment; dislikes let you send private feedback to Latitude or report inappropriate content.
- World pages now show Actions, Plays, and Remixes instead of % Liked
- Content cards now show Actions and Bookmarks only, with the Actions icon being changed to the ‘Send Action’ paper plane icon.
- A new way to earn Profile Pictures has been added under Daily Rewards. You can unlock avatars by doing daily actions on AI Dungeon or Voyage.
Improvements
- Custom Generation model selectors now show each Story, Character, and State model's icon, provider, description, access or experimental badge, as well as a cost rating.
- Improved memory selection to give the narrator more relevant context and reduce contradictions.
- Improved Studio colors, contrast, selection states, record-name wrapping, and field sizing, with blue send buttons and map accents.
- Improved search, topic counts, and mobile table readability in Studio documentation.
- The Assistant and Studio now show a help button after you dismiss their introductions and use matching close buttons.
- Sidebar button heights are now standard; also improved the layout of mobile quest actions.
- Creating a group message now shows friend avatars, display names, usernames, and clearer selection states.
- The desktop menu button now highlights while its panel is open.
- If you close a game with text still in the input box, it will be there when you reopen that game in the same browser.
- Multiplayer chat now hides messages from players you’ve blocked.
- Public multiplayer now rejects character backstories containing blocked words. Masked matches help you identify what to edit or regenerate.
- New worlds now open in Visual Novel Mode by default. You can still turn it off in the game menu. Creators can turn it off for their world in the world editor under Other Settings.
- Character creation now skips categories with no available options.
- In Worlds with character customization disabled, tapping a premade character opens their details with a Choose button. Premade descriptions, backstories, and journal cards now preserve line breaks.
- Refreshed character and location cards with tighter spacing, clearer inventory filters, and full-width mobile travel buttons.
- Updated hover sounds on the main game screen.
- Clarified Studio’s “Resurrection instructions” label and tooltip: these guide successful revivals and the party’s final ending in permadeath games, not ordinary injury or death scenes.
- When there is scheduled maintenance planned within 24 hours, a banner with your local time and a countdown now appears. During maintenance, an informational screen shows how long it's expected to last and links to our Discord. The app reconnects automatically once it's back.
- Signed-out invite pages now show World art, host, and Sign In / Create Account buttons without scrolling.
- Users can now browse and preview Voyage worlds without making an account, more matching AI Dungeon’s anonymous flow.
- You can now change your account email in Settings by verifying your identity with your linked Google or Apple account.
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where resolving one NPC combat action could incorrectly downgrade its separate dodge or defense action.
- Untrained skill checks now include the linked attribute modifier. Combat skills also receive their attribute damage bonus when the linked names differ only in capitalization.
- Improved NPC attack and defense targeting, including enemies named in the story but not yet registered by the engine.
- Removed model-generated headings and divider lines from displayed and narrated story text.
- Improved NPC name generation and type matching, keeping voice hints separate from names, preserving suitable descriptive names, and removing stray trailing characters from names and traits.
- Fixed voice-tag parsing for nonbinary NPCs.
- Fixed malformed identity references that could create duplicate NPCs. Existing duplicates are unchanged.
- Fixed cases where scene updates could confuse NPCs with the same display name.
- Improved continuity for restraints and vehicle travel when the story leaves them unchanged.
- Fixed an issue where hidden predefined quests could prevent the first turn from detecting an explicit quest offer.
- Reduced unnecessary text in trigger checks that could prevent quest and world triggers from being processed.
- Corrected hidden-secret labels and removed an unrelated world’s currency from the narrator’s prompt.
- Studio now preserves JSON key order during ordinary edits and saves deliberate reordering. You can also ask the agent to reorder collections.
- Combined Areas JSON now keeps spaces and punctuation readable instead of unnecessarily URL-encoding them.
- Studio chats that fail to load can now be retried without replacing the conversation. Connection errors also include recovery guidance.
- Studio now refreshes its context when an adventure changes outside the chat.
- Trigger scripts now support multiline editing in Studio.
- Studio’s validation toggle now shows the issue count for the view you’re switching to.
- Fixed incomplete NPC and premade-character rows in Studio grids.
- Shared links to published worlds now open for players without draft access, while unpublished edits stay private.
- Removed the misleading “Version v1” row from world and mod details.
- Quickstart category labels now use the app’s standard font.
- Empty multiplayer party portraits now open the room code and invite link, with Add Companions available to eligible hosts.
- Fixed the map label staying brighter than Settings and Chat after closing the map.
- Long button labels now stay within their buttons and truncate on narrow screens.
- World Play buttons and enabled notification switches now use Voyage blue.
- Subscribing from Settings now opens pricing in a new browser tab, keeping your game open. Mobile apps continue to navigate in-app.
- Voyage’s Shadow membership link now redirects to AI Dungeon.
- Improved email-verification dialog’s spacing, address wrapping, and keyboard support.
- The back arrow on Your Story So Far now returns to your previous screen instead of always opening your profile.
- Fixed signup handoffs so new Google or Apple accounts created through Sign In reach Quickstart, while returning players skip onboarding. Stalled profile loads now offer Try again.
- Fixed Worlds failing to start because of obsolete faction settings.
- Failed character-option loading now offers a Retry button instead of an endless spinner.
- Fixed the custom Backstory field becoming unreachable behind the on-screen keyboard.
- Fixed character-panel hover colors and spacing, and kept the READY count aligned when expanding level-up choices.
- In Async games, players can queue actions while the DM is offline. Party leadership stays with a player instead of switching to whoever is online.
- Fixed NPC party removal and scene placement interfering with each other. Clear party-only removals leave NPCs nearby; ambiguous requests should prompt for clarification.
- Fixed an issue that could make NPCs deliver planned dialogue after being killed or knocked out.
- Quest NPCs now appear at the accepted destination. Improved the AI’s instructions for connecting quest areas to existing areas there.
- Turning off Show New Player Tips now also hides tips during turn loading.
- The Experiments button now matches the neighboring Settings button.
- The Public Servers heading and “Discover more content” now open Discover with the public-server filter selected.
- Voyage Unlimited web subscriptions now open checkout directly with your selected billing period.
- Referral links created in Voyage now lead to Voyage.
- Studio no longer warns creators about hidden trigger data they can’t edit. Saving affected triggers cleans up that data.
