Patch 2.40.4

The complete notes for this update.

New features

  • You can now edit or delete your own direct messages. Edited messages are labeled, while deleted messages remain as placeholders so replies stay understandable.
  • New-game narration speed is now a slider from 0.5× to 2.0×, replacing the four fixed speed choices.
  • World map headers can now show the active region’s level range, for example "Lvl 1-20".
  • Typing / in Creator Studio now offers a command to `/reset`, which clears the current Studio conversation.
  • An empty Worlds tab on your profile now offers starter ideas and a ‘Surprise me’ option.

Improvements

  • Creator Studio search now responds faster in large worlds, prioritizes direct file-name matches, and progressively loads long result lists. The file tree is simpler, while the World/Mod picker now has artwork cards, search, filters, counts, responsive layouts, and clearer create and delete actions.
  • Creator Studio controls now adapt more cleanly to narrow screens, with consistent icon controls, labels, tooltips, focus states, typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy.
  • The in-game Studio model picker now opens one combined Usage + Model menu.
  • World-cover uploads now show larger previews and clearer drop and remove controls.
  • Content Rating information is now presented in one easier-to-read card.
  • Map controls now have distinct screen-reader labels, and invisible overlay space no longer blocks map gestures.
  • Voyage publishing now uses Voyage typography, colors, responsive scrolling, and mobile layouts.
  • Cinematic dialogue settings and mute shortcuts now use consistent circular glass styling.
  • Voyage search fields now use consistent shapes, typography, clear actions, and focus treatment across gameplay panels and Settings.
  • Active Mods show the cog icon instead of the old hammer.
  • First-time loading now does less startup work and keeps one continuous loading flame visible while the game becomes ready.
  • New worlds use crisp region boundaries by default; creators can still enable feathered borders.
  • Hovering the icons under the latest story turn now shows labels: "Replay scene", "I like this", "I don't like this", and "Share this turn".
  • Saved-game loading screens now show the full sharp cover with softly blurred artwork filling the desktop side rails.
  • Returning players can see which Google or Apple sign-in method they last used on that device.
  • The web create-account screen links to the Voyage App Store and Google Play listings.
  • Returning players signing into an existing account through the create-an-account screen will now be logged in automatically, rather than being told to sign in.
  • `voyage.io/x` and `voyage.io/tt` now work as short links to social accounts.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed mobile safe-area and scrolling problems that could hide public multiplayer actions, death-story content, cinematic controls, the action input, or the Quickstart close button behind keyboards, notches, and system navigation.
  • Comments now load correctly on published Mods and remain consistent with the displayed comment count.
  • Create Room Multiplayer now keeps the host in the lobby instead of showing “Room not found.”
  • Changing narration settings no longer cuts off the current turn’s text-to-speech playback.
  • Image-provider content-filter failures now explain what happened instead of showing a generic generation error.
  • Voyage links now open the installed app in the release environment named by the URL.
  • Fixed account creation redirecting through Quickstart after logout, and improved existing-account recovery and sign-in behavior in mobile in-app browsers.
  • Player handles now sit on the same baseline as character names.
  • Follower counts now update immediately as soon as they change.
  • The leave-game modal now uses the same font and spacing as the rest of Voyage.
  • Fixed several Creator Studio save and validation failures involving pasted or prior-version world JSON, malformed State Editor input, legacy fields, and false cross-catalog errors.
  • Fixed Studio map changes that could revert, lose duplicated regions or locations, delete inherited remix content, or crash Chrome after repeated pin moves.
  • Typing in large Creator Studio worlds now stays responsive.
  • Hitting ‘Return’ on Studio mobile now inserts a newline instead of submitting.
