Improvement
Patch 2.33.7
The complete notes for this update.
New features
- The Voyage Home page has been reworked with a Top Creators carousel and more varied row layouts, including larger Trending cards, compact genre rows, artwork-led cards, and higher-resolution creator images.
- Voyage discovery now has a Default content-rating filter. Default appears first and is exclusive; choosing a specific rating switches the filter to Custom, while removing the last Custom rating returns it to Everyone.
- Story turns can now be turned into “Share a Scene” images from the Share button, complete with a caption, social actions, referral copy, and a public scene link.
- A new sparkle icon next to the composer opens AI action suggestions. Voyage can generate five complete action ideas based on the current scene or flesh out a rough draft already in the composer.
- Active Voyage saves can now be duplicated. The duplicate uses the latest saved version, leaves the original unchanged, and can progress independently.
- Completed scenes now have a play button beside the feedback controls, allowing players to replay the scene’s dialogue, portraits, and enabled TTS.
- Voyage sidebars now include search for Journal entries, Inventory, Quests, Skills, Abilities, Traits, and Settings. Pressing Escape clears the search before closing the menu.
- World owners now have World Engine Settings presets in the game menu. Efficient, Balanced, Advanced, and Custom presets include recommendations and per-turn Usage rates, while advanced controls remain available for individual tuning.
- The Safety Settings menu now includes Chat Filter above Parental Lock. Chat Filter is enabled by default and can be turned off unless Parental Lock is active.
- Public multiplayer now includes a one-time orientation for first-time deliberate joins from a world page, the Servers tab, or a lobby. The confirmation includes occupancy, Usage, and community-guidelines context. Multiplayer Guidelines are also linked from the game settings menu and a dismissible reminder banner in public party chat.
- Creators can now add artwork to items. Creator Studio and the legacy world editor support uploads, image generation, recent-image selection, and cropping, while Inventory and Equipped cards now display the item image.
- Voyage creators can now open Feedback from a world’s row in the Creator Dashboard and view feedback for that world without entering gameplay.
- Voyage image-model selection is now unified. Runtime settings, Creator Studio, and the legacy editor each use one Image Model selector with the same catalog and GPT Image 2 Medium as the default. Character and location LoRA toggles have been removed, while image-type prompt fields remain available.
- Creators can now give NPCs mode-specific behavior guidance by configuring the `npcIntentInstructions` field under Other → Game Modes, with a limit of 5,000 characters.
- The DeepSeek Flash Story Model now uses the previously experimental V4 Flash 0731 version by default.
Improvements
- Voyage should feel faster and more stable when opening content, starting or resuming games, committing turns, streaming, changing themes, and playing long adventures. Under heavy load, new sessions are routed away from memory-pressured room servers, room workers reclaim idle memory, and hidden tabs stop making background rate-limit requests.
- Players can now write regular actions and dialogue up to 840 characters without splitting them up. DM story direction and regular actions now use the same visible limit.
- Travel is less likely to be hard-blocked. Players can attempt coherent travel through difficult terrain, without transportation, using unsupported travel devices, or to destinations that are not yet on the map. Restraint, combat, and untracked destinations become skill checks when appropriate.
- New Voyage games now use a 90-second turn timer by default instead of 60 seconds. Players can still choose another value or turn the timer off.
- Continuous dialogue from the same character now stays together in a single story-history block instead of repeating the attribution for each chunk.
- Visual Novel Mode is now disabled by default. Players can still enable it in Voyage display settings.
- Gameplay controls now use a darker translucent treatment for the top navigation, Abilities, Skills, and Items buttons, and the input bar, while keeping the scene color visible behind them.
- The character sidebar has been refreshed with cleaner Skills, Traits, Abilities, Inventory, and Equipped sections. Inventory is grouped into compact category bands, making cooldowns and modifiers easier to scan, and attribute-point spending remains stable while changes save. Inventory removal actions are now labeled Delete instead of relying on a trash icon alone.
- Compact Voyage button labels—including Settings, Map, Chat, Abilities, Skills, and Items—are now vertically centered.
- Return recaps are now more compact and vivid. The recap modal uses a wider journey image strip in visit order, with Start, Stop, and Current labels.
- Voyage Home cards are now more consistent across Home, My Saves, and eligible For You rows, with artwork-first layouts, titles, total plays, and visible positive ratings below the image.
- Voyage save titles now show both the character and world, such as `Rael - Larion`, instead of only the world name.
- Mobile settings navigation has steadier spacing, more reliable nested headers and back/close controls, and an updated Voyage logo.
- Button, toggle, and panel sounds are more balanced. Result stingers no longer overlap, and level-up sounds should play reliably on iOS.
- Narrative generation now handles player trait effects more reliably while keeping unrevealed background details, resources, statuses, and unequipped items narrator-only.
- NPC relationship and state updates can better reflect authored hidden motivations.
- Some story turns now include less duplicated prompt context, reducing repeated story-trigger guidance.
- Embedding-based memory is now faster behind the scenes.
- In public Voyage-hosted rooms, Ask Narrator no longer receives tools that can read or change game state. Private, invite-only, and friends rooms are unchanged.
- The quick-message modal now has more space between the Message label and the player’s name.
- Creator Studio reference fields now use consistently styled dropdowns populated with the world’s existing values instead of free-text inputs. When no valid values remain, Studio disables Add and explains where to create one. Typography and dropdown styling are also more consistent across forms, modals, and empty states.
- Damage Type emoji fields now open a categorized picker, accept pasted emoji-only sequences, and reject words or mixed emoji-and-text values.
- Creator Studio now charges successful runs based on measured token cost, and Usage settings consistently refer to both Assistant and Studio. A new Usage button shows five-hour and weekly pool usage and refreshes automatically after each run. Model selection uses the configured Medium, High, and Max choices, with clearer loading and retry states.
- Creator Studio diagnostics now use the same allowed IDs and convention rules as other Voyage authoring surfaces.
- After leaving an adventure and resuming it in a new room, opening in-game Studio restores the previous chat transcript and continues the same conversation.
- Creator Studio and world editor maps now better match gameplay, with compact markers, selected, current, and quest states, collision-aware labels, and no oversized location-image pins in editor mode.
- Publishing a Mature world now explains whether it is eligible to appear in Default Discovery. Mature worlds show an Eligible, Not Eligible, or Checking status, with details about listing text and cover-image eligibility.
- Voyage publishing surfaces now link directly to the Community Guidelines from the publish confirmation modal, the editor’s Info tab, and Creator Studio’s rating panel.
- Voyage Profile tabs are now ordered Worlds, Mods, and Scenarios, while AI Dungeon remains Scenarios, Worlds, and Mods. Sorting by Scenarios or Worlds is remembered when leaving and returning, including after a reload, and Voyage creators now default to sorting by Worlds.
- Earned Streak badges now remain on profiles indefinitely, even after a streak ends. Streaks also extend automatically after the first successful Voyage action or creator-related edit of the day.
Bug fixes
- Voyage game settings now respond immediately when clicked and roll back only if the saved configuration is rejected.
- Using the browser’s Back button during Voyage gameplay now returns to the previous page instead of opening Settings. Android Back still closes an open modal or menu first.
- Android bottom-screen controls are no longer hidden beneath the navigation tray in modals, character creation, game setup, Discover, or Voyage gameplay. The Home hero also no longer shows a black band above it.
- Scrolling through turn dialogue no longer pauses narration or skips ahead.
- Character Detail scrollbars now fade in while scrolling and fade out afterward without shifting resource values.
- Portrait cards now preserve their intended composition instead of centering on faces in the background.
- Visual Novel Mode no longer leaves hidden gameplay controls reachable behind the dialogue UI. Keyboard focus moves to the visible dialogue control, fast speaker changes no longer flash unloaded cutouts, and reduced-motion focus changes no longer fade. Disabling Visual Novel Mode also stops future cutout generation unless another participant in the room still has it enabled.
- On Ready to Play, eligible hosts and admins no longer see a duplicate kick option in the review grid. The party row also keeps portrait sizes consistent and scrolls on smaller screens instead of widening the page.
- Quest badges no longer cover the gold current-location marker on the map.
- Selecting a location by its visible map label now opens travel actions for that location instead of the wilderness at the label’s screen coordinates.
- Editor map marker hitboxes now match the visible dots, so clicks and drags outside a marker reach the region or canvas beneath it.
- Studio map shortcuts for copy, cut, paste, duplicate, delete, and tools now activate only after the map is selected. Elsewhere in Studio, those keys retain their normal behavior.
- Quests no longer create duplicate NPC identities when they reference an existing character or generate a name that matches one.
- Premade NPCs that begin undiscovered now appear in Journal → Characters after their first encounter.
- Party updates now show a renamed NPC’s display name instead of reverting to an old or internal identity.
- NPCs who stay behind when the player travels now remain at their previous location instead of being treated as though they left the party.
- `/undo` no longer partially corrupts a turn when it fails. Party changes also no longer leave older undo entries pointing to archived characters.
- Long story-start instructions are no longer silently truncated during character creation.
- Trait validation now reports an error when a trait’s combined text is too large instead of allowing an invalid save.
- Some malformed AI task responses now use the task’s existing fallback instead of failing silently.
- Creators no longer need to add a retired faction-generation field for a world to pass validation.
- Official public rooms now consistently use Voyage’s platform-default AI settings instead of mutable settings from the host account, including in one-player public rooms.
- Public-server narration has returned to per-player asynchronous pacing, with no elected narration leader and no waiting for another player to advance dialogue.
- Player reports no longer include content-specific reasons such as rating, image, or music violations. Selecting Report from another player’s mini-profile now opens a player-specific dialog titled with their name, with a details field and an optional block toggle.
- Relationship Stages in the editor now display and sync as a JSON array without an incorrect schema warning.
- Creator Studio no longer removes users from a session when the low-usage warning appears.
- Studio runs can no longer create hidden Usage debt that absorbs later replenishment or Credits conversion.
- Worlds published through Creator Studio now load their published details and play options instead of getting stuck on “Untitled World / Loading play options.”
- Creator Studio schema errors now identify the exact file or field that failed validation instead of showing a generic error.
- Newly published or updated worlds no longer enter an endless world-page flashing and reload loop.
- `Base` no longer appears as a selectable Story, Character, State, or Audio engine. Players who had it selected will be moved to the new default engine.
- The Streak claim-ready dot now appears when the cooldown ends, even if the app has remained open all day.
- App-review prompts now wait until after players leave a world instead of interrupting gameplay. Dismissing a prompt also respects a cooldown: no more than once per session or every seven days, and not again for six months afterwards.
