Enhanced Relationship Instructions - Standalone
A complete overhaul of how NPCs feel about you. Incompatible with intents heavy mods like TIO. Search for TIO compatible version. WHAT IT DOES - Depth matters. The engine grades every bond into seven depths, from sworn enemy to devoted companion, and the same act is worth different amounts at each. A compliment charms a stranger, means nothing to an old friend, and reads as manipulation to an enemy. - Trust builds in seasons, breaks in moments. Gains are slow and honest; harm hits roughly twice as hard as help. Cheap tricks stop working: repeated gifts, flattery, and routine kindness fade to nothing as a bond deepens. - Betrayals are catastrophic. Betray someone devoted to you and they do not become an acquaintance, they become the enemy who knows everything. No apology undoes it: words are never repair, and one grand gesture cannot buy back treachery. - Defining moments are real. A proposal accepted, a life pulled from true mortal peril, a lifelong desire fulfilled: when the story has earned it, a single moment can vault a bond further than a hundred pleasant evenings. Earned is the key: staged rescues and hollow gestures do not qualify. - The world watches and talks. NPCs judge what they see you do to others, hear rumors through plausible channels, and only react to lies and thefts when they actually discover them. Intimidation buys obedience, never affection. Promises are remembered: keep them and it counts, break them and it costs. Jealousy, spilled secrets, standing by someone in their worst hour: all of it is priced. - Every NPC reads it their own way. A proud warrior may wear a life debt as prickly resentment while the bond quietly deepens. The same deed can win one onlooker and appall another, each judging by their own values. WHAT IT ADDS, AND WHERE - NPC Updates instructions (generateNPCUpdates): 4 new sections, about 13,500 characters of the 24,000 budget. Your world needs roughly 13,500 characters free in this task. - NPC Intents instructions (generateNPCIntents): 1 small section, about 1,400 characters of the 40,000 budget. It teaches characters to act their stage: strangers stay guarded, friends open up, companions sulk instead of drawing steel. - a 15-stage relationship ladder (Nemesis to Devoted) replacing the default stages, so progress shows as named milestones. COMPATIBILITY - Works alongside default game instructions: the engine takes priority over the built-in relationship rules automatically.
