Personality NPC Details
By default AI gravitates toward personality traits that are either easy to observe from a distance or lock a character into a permanent emotional state. These feel safe because they are consistent and easy to perform — but they produce NPCs that never shift, never surprise, and sound the same whether they are in a tense moment or a relaxed one. This mod replaces that with a structured four-trait system. Each NPC gets one positive, one negative, one neutral, and a free fourth trait drawn from a pool of ninety relational traits — words that only exist in how a character engages with the people around them. These traits only mean something in interaction. They can’t be performed in a vacuum. The trait pool is built to create contrast. Pairing traits that push against each other gives NPCs internal tension that surfaces differently depending on what the scene needs. In downtime they open up and engage on their own terms. In conversation they push their own agenda rather than waiting for the player to move things forward. The mod adds a dedicated Personality instruction field inside NPC Details alongside your existing custom field, keeping personality guidance separate and easy to edit. The trait pool itself is fully customizable — swap words in and out to match your world’s tone and cast. NPCs stop being role-specific and start being people who happen to have a role.
